Alibaba Group Holding Ltd. is ramping up its delivery services to bolster its competitive edge in China's e-commerce sector. A key highlight is the introduction of a new one-hour delivery feature on Taobao, Alibaba's popular online shopping platform. Launched in July 2024, this service promises swift delivery of essentials such as groceries and medicine, directly accessible from Taobao's homepage, according to South China Morning Post.
Adding to this, Cainiao Network, Alibaba's logistics division, began offering a half-day express delivery service in October 2023. This service guarantees delivery in top-tier cities like Beijing and Shanghai, either by 9 p.m. for orders placed before noon, or by noon the next day for those ordered close to midnight. Furthermore, Cainiao is expanding these faster delivery offerings to 20 cities across China, with hopes of boosting consumer spending during economic uncertainty, reports China Daily.
As part of its global strategy, Cainiao announced earlier this year plans to introduce a five-day international delivery service. This ambition to speed up cross-border deliveries is reflective of Alibaba's broader logistics initiatives. Meanwhile, Alibaba's stock, listed in the USA market as BABA, is trading at $118.88, indicating stability with a minor change of $0.52 at the last update on Wednesday.
