Boeing CEO Kelly Ortberg has announced that the company plans to complete certification for the 737 MAX 7 and MAX 10 by the end of 2025. This timeline aims to address previous issues that have caused delays, particularly concerning the engine de-icing system, according to a report by Reuters.
The aviation giant currently faces a significant backlog, with nearly 1,200 orders for the 737 MAX 10 and 332 for the MAX 7. Despite these orders, airlines such as United Airlines and Alaska Airlines anticipate that deliveries of the MAX 10 will be delayed until 2027 and mid-2026, respectively. These delays highlight the pressure Boeing faces to meet demand while ensuring aircraft adherence to regulatory standards.
Beyond the 737 MAX series, Boeing is also progressing with the certification of the 777-9 aircraft. As per Boeing's latest updates, deliveries for the 777-9 are now anticipated to begin in 2026, marking an essential step for the company in bolstering its large aircraft offerings amidst a competitive industry landscape.
