BP has announced the appointment of David A. Hager as a non-executive director, effective June 2, 2025. Hager brings with him a wealth of experience from the U.S. oil and gas sector, where he has held significant leadership roles over the past four decades.
Hager notably served as CEO of Devon Energy from 2015 to 2021, before transitioning to the role of executive chairman until 2023. His extensive resume includes a period as Chief Operating Officer at Kerr-McGee Corporation and senior roles at Mobil Oil Corporation and Sun Company Inc., according to Reuters. His board experience extends to EnLink Midstream, LLC, and Pride International Inc.
A geophysics graduate from Purdue University with an MBA from Southern Methodist University, Hager's appointment reflects BP's strategy to strengthen its board with profound industry knowledge, especially in the U.S. market.
