Royal Caribbean has not announced any plans for a $250 million investment to upgrade its Solstice-class ships, as of May 29, 2025. The Solstice-class ships, which belong to Celebrity Cruises, were initially launched by the company between 2008 and 2012.
In a separate development, Royal Caribbean Group signed an agreement in January 2025 with shipbuilder Chantiers de l'Atlantique to construct a sixth Edge Series ship. This new vessel is expected to be delivered in 2028. Reuters reported that this move is part of Royal Caribbean's broader strategy to enhance its premium cruise offerings, showcasing its commitment to modernizing and expanding its fleet.
Despite ongoing investments in new ships and fleet modernization, there has been no confirmation of a targeted financial commitment for upgrading the Solstice-class ships. Royal Caribbean continues to focus on innovative new constructions rather than revamping its older vessels at this time.
