Salesforce has re-entered advanced negotiations to acquire Informatica, a prominent player in the data management software industry. This marks the revival of previously stalled discussions between the two companies.
Negotiations initially halted back in April 2024 due to disagreements over price, with Salesforce's offer reported to be in the mid-$30s per share, which fell short of Informatica's trading value at that time, according to information from CIO.com. During this period, Informatica had insisted publicly that it wasn't engaged in any acquisition negotiations, despite signs of Salesforce's interest as reported by Bloomberg.
Should the deal come to fruition, it could become one of Salesforce's largest acquisitions, reminiscent of its $28 billion purchase of Slack in 2021. Such a move would likely bolster Salesforce's capabilities in data management and AI, aligning with its strategic priorities around data cloud and artificial intelligence enhancements. However, neither Salesforce nor Informatica have publicly commented on the renewed discussions.
