Automaker Stellantis has announced the appointment of Antonio Filosa as its new Chief Executive Officer, effective June 23, 2025. This leadership change follows the resignation of former CEO Carlos Tavares in December 2024, amid challenges including significant declines in both profits and sales. Filosa, who currently leads Stellantis' North American operations, takes the helm as the company seeks to enhance its competitive edge in the automotive market.
Antonio Filosa, 51, brings over 25 years of experience in the automotive industry to his new role. His career began at Fiat in 1999, and he has since held numerous key positions, such as Chief Operating Officer for South America and global head of the Jeep brand. Reuters highlights Filosa's deep understanding of Stellantis' operations, which is expected to drive strategic initiatives to restore the company's financial health.
With a focus on revitalizing Stellantis' presence in the U.S. market, Filosa will tackle a 70% drop in net profits and address a €6 billion cash burn experienced in 2024. He also plans to streamline the automaker's extensive 14-brand portfolio and improve relations with dealers, unions, and governments. Stellantis was formed in 2021 from the merger of Fiat Chrysler and PSA Group, encompassing well-known brands such as Peugeot and Jeep.
