Tesla’s India Chief Steps Down as Company Prepares Market Entry

Tesla's India head, Prashanth Menon, has resigned from his role as country head and chairman of Tesla India's board. This development comes after Menon's nine-year tenure with the company and occurs amid Tesla's efforts to expand into the Indian market. Bloomberg News noted Menon's departure as the company continues advancing its strategic plans for India.

Following the resignation, Tesla's operations in India will be managed by the company's team from China. There has been no announcement regarding Menon's successor. As part of its expansion efforts, Tesla has already secured locations for showrooms and advertised job openings for positions such as store management, customer service, and relationship managers in India.

Potential reductions in auto tariffs are currently being discussed in ongoing U.S.-India trade negotiations, which could facilitate Tesla's entry into the Indian market with imported vehicles. Despite these significant developments, Tesla has remained silent on Menon's resignation, and no official comment has been made.
