Uber is making significant strides in its autonomous vehicle services, as highlighted by a series of recent partnerships with major industry players. In a landmark move, Uber announced a multiyear strategic agreement with Cruise, a General Motors subsidiary, aiming to integrate Cruise's autonomous vehicles into the Uber app. This collaboration is set to offer driverless rides in multiple U.S. cities starting in 2025.
In addition to its partnership with Cruise, Uber has also strengthened its ties with Waymo. As reported by investor.uber.com, the ride-hailing giant will bring Waymo's fully autonomous, all-electric Jaguar I-PACE vehicles to Austin and Atlanta. Set to begin in early 2025, this initiative will enable Uber to manage and dispatch a fleet of these vehicles, further cementing its position in the autonomous ride-hailing sector.
Moreover, Uber has partnered with Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer BYD to launch a global robotaxi service. This ambitious plan will introduce 100,000 BYD vehicles to Uber's platform over the next few years, initially targeting markets in Europe and Latin America. Despite these major partnerships, there are no current collaborations announced between Uber and Momenta for robotaxis in Europe.
